Words, Thoughts, Art?

Caged / Haunted

Caged -

Beautifully solemn and charming. One of my personal favorites. In this portrait we get to see a part of the artists dramatic side. Her solitude is so charming it’s almost wrong to even classify it as such. Beauty in subtle ounces spread throughout the composition. Her eyes staring down something unseen.. Truly haunting..

Haunted -

I feel no words can describe the depth her eyes perceive. Her natural skin and waving strands of hair leave a ghostly presence. A figure lost in her own time, a catatonic state left in oblivion…

I really enjoyed these pictures since we get to see the artist in a more natural look without her adornments and makeup.. The real Cristina in a way.

Remorse / Canibal

Remorse -

Breathtaking, in more ways than one. I feel that this looks like the result of some domestic dispute. It’s sad and violent with a touch of beauty as the figure gasps in tolerance and remorse. Her eyes peer deep into your mind, delivering a helpless: “No!”. Chilling truly, the bruises and bloodied neck only add to the tension. The falling feathers figuratively connote opened scars, as time from a young life is slowly extinguished…

Canibal -

Horrifying! This piece is very creative, as the artist expressed her inspiration came after she finished her food. Primaeval in a sense, almost borderlines human instinct. That dark stare of pride fills one with a feeling of helplessness against the beastly actions being portrayed. I love it.

Color Blast / Vile

At first glance I pictured a LGBT add come through my mind. Unintentionally this picture is inspiring and I’m sure that it has gotten some comments from members of its community. It’s colorful lips accentuate this blank and barren canvas where a single drop of yellow falls from the tip as it pours out to the bottom. It could be interpreted as the adherent ways our words combine and drip into a sea of thoughts that define what we humans are: “Ideas”. Or it could also be the way our emotions reflect on others as each of the colors could be analyzed as an independent emotion… Truly a ponderous photo.

Horrid and Putrid… Thy rotten soul gives birth to no happiness, nothing but black bile… - Me

I couldn’t help but put these two together. I think they contradict each other but at the same time complement the ideas that the artist wanted to portray. In one you have the creation of thoughts. Whereas in this portrait we see a dark vile bitter creature that drips from the mouth with a dark liquid that seems to know no truth. Thoughts are entangled and drowned in the drips of lies that slip through Rotten teeth the blackness of tar… Truly shivering.

Maniac / The Swan

Maniac -

I believe that everything expressed here relates to a gaze lost to time, not insanity. But the plumage and choice of make up reminds me of a mask on a wall during a Venetian Carnival… Waiting for that wandering child that stares at it and is consumed by its eternal glossy stare. Truly a beautiful picture.

The Swan -

Fluttering in her scarlet tutu. The Prima Donna Ballerina spins and turns from her pars de deux for a dramatic picture…

Confessions - Cristina OteroImmediately after viewing this, all the feelings that surged through my head were: “Why!?”. Throughout this portrait there’s this feeling of self dread and lament that courses through the tips of the bloodied fingertips it’s almost palpable… The blood, almost metallic gives a realistic feeling to the entire piece. Palely colored skin and a pair of sly open lips seem to utter a dramatic: “No..”

Cristina Otero: Photography, photomanipulation and beauty at it’s finest.

As promised, I got the okay from this wonderful artist! So without further adieu… I present her to you…

"At only 15, this young self-taught photograph has already revolutionized the web and part of her world. At 13 she discovered photography and in only 2 has provided freshness and innovation in each of her self-portraits that she presents to us. Expressiveness, illumination and metamorphosisGreat maturity is housed in her images, although in her we see the doubt and change that a girl undergoes each day as she transforms into a woman. Beautiful photos, dark, happy o very sad but, without a doubt, with a strong visual force…”

I personally found this wonderful blooming artist as I navigated through the profile of an artist on deviantArt. Immediately I was amazed by the beauty and depth her photographs portrayed. Some where dark and sinister while others were happy and kind in the messages they reflected.. I asked her for permission, to see if I could share it with everyone so they could see all of her work, and enjoy it as I did. All of these portraits had in common that they were detailed and skillfully prepared. I was most intrigued by the amount of time and dedications all of her self portraits had to have taken. Overall I chose the pieces from each of her albums that most represented her work in each theme. I hope that everyone who see’s this enjoys the photographs and also takes a gander at her profile.

I’ll be posting the link to her profile at the bottom of this spam. :)

Uva, Cristina Otero.

This photograph is titled: Uva (Grape)

I wanted to start it off with something a bit more quirky and funny after all that serious ramble. I believe this picture shows humor while at the same time a hint of adolescent fun. The makeup and depth of her eyes is flawless… Her lips almost like candy. overall I loved it.

This picture is part of her Gallery folder titled: Tutti Frutti.
